IT Support Needed - Part Time

MetroEast Community Media is seeking a part-time IT Support Contractor to support organizational Information Systems for our Gresham, Oregon offices.

This is a contract position, estimated to last one year.   We anticipate the need for approximately 6 to 8 hours per week of support services, to be conducted during regular business hours.

Overview:  The IT Support role is responsible for supporting and assisting in organization Information Systems and procedures as related to Tier 1 technical matters.

Reports To:  CIO

Classification:  Contract, Part Time

 

Primary Responsibilities:

General

●      Implement and Configure, Support and Maintain Information Systems and Integrations adhering to industry best practices

●      Recommend appropriate actions and direct resources, according to strategy and policy

●      Perform all duties, with deep concern and care for protecting privacy, protecting confidential information and keeping safe all organizational and institutional documentation

 

Computer Systems Administration

●      Hardware and Software deployment and maintenance

                       

Dev + Sec Ops/CSO Development and maintenance of internal solutions

●      Test, Demonstrate, Maintain tools and systems

●      Create integrations with APIs and custom code, adhering to standards

 

Security and related infrastructure configuration and maintenance

●      Conformance to security policy

●      Report breaches and perform mitigation

●      Report security concerns

 

Systems Integration

●      Coordinate with and conform to a variety of vendor platforms and APIs

●      Connect disparate systems with novel solutions, that adhere to standards

 

Information Technology Management

●      Maintain Information Technology gear, arrange for repair and replacement

●      Inventory management, related record keeping and coordination with others

 

Helpdesk and Support

●      Provide general computer usage issue support and relevant solutions

●      Provide training and task workflows for information systems

●      Interpret incomplete information, restate, confirm and adjust

●      Escalate issues to the CIO and vendors when necessary

●      Participate in and observe peer communication channels, lists, forums and news

 

Other Responsibilities: 

●      Actively participate in team meetings and discussions

●      Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

●      None

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

●      Mac OS X, BSD Unix, Linux and Windows 7 knowledge and experience

●      Media format conversion and transport medium knowledge

●      Unix/Linux shell, PHP, MySQL, and related Structured Query Language knowledge

●      Understanding & implementation of text-stream transformation tools & scripting

●      Ability to transfer and communicate concepts between disparate systems

●      Ability to effectively communicate technology needs and information to management and staff

●      Communication skills in delivering customer service satisfaction

●      The ability to troubleshoot issues and concerns with a positive attitude

●      Python, Ruby, Perl, and Excel Macro 4.0 knowledge

●      Proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite applications

●      Ability to maintain a professional attitude in fast paced, changing environment

●      The ability to Interact with team members, customers and business partners in a professional and cooperative manner

●      Well organized and detail oriented

●      Able to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines

●      Analysis and problem solving skills

Education & Work Experience:   

2‐year degree or 1 to 5 years IT Support experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience

 

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:                                                                       

Work is usually performed in an indoor office environment with long periods at a desk. Environment is oriented to public service and subject to constant work interruptions. Position may work under the stress of continual public and/or inter‐departmental contact and pressure to meet deadlines. Must be able to move about the facility to communicate with staff members.  Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This position may be exposed to offensive acts and language in the process of video production. Requires flexible work schedule and may be required to work evenings and weekends.  There is exposure to electricity/equipment.
